5 Best Family Apps 2016

IoT

Technology: some can't live with it, but we definitely can’t live without it. While there are a lot of apps out there that add more stress to your life, we’ve found a few that might just make the whole parenting thing a bit easier, from scheduling to educational entertainment for the little ones. Here are the 5 best apps for families this fall.

Cozi

Seriously, between soccer practice, ½ day kindergarten, shopping lists, laundry lists and everything else that comes with parenthood, I don’t know how we can possibly stay organized without the help of technology. Cozi is like having an external memory. It keeps track of your schedules, your grocery lists, recipes, and even some fun family memories. The only thing it doesn’t track is your kids themselves. But that’s where we recommend:

Family Locator by Life360

Ok this may be bordering on Paranoid Parent territory, but if you could have just a bit more peace of mind around your child’s whereabouts, wouldn’t you? Family Locator is more of a family contact center. Send messages, share lists, and most importantly, share locations at any time. For those days when you might have mistaken the timing of your kid’s band practice or missed an early dismissal, at least you’ll know when they’re stranded at school.

Sit or Squat

We’ve all been there. There is NOTHING worse than having a squirmy kid who has to go...now. And there seems to be no toilet in sight. Sit or Squat has you covered with a GPS located list of the nearest public restrooms, complete with a cleanliness rating from fellow parents (thanks Charmin). I’ve used it more times than I care to admit.

Hopscotch App

This is where I wish I was a kid in 2016. It’s never been easier, or more fun, to learn to code than with apps like this. Let your future engineer hone their development skills under the guise of a fun game. It’ll keep them entertained for hours, and you don’t have to worry about them wasting away in front of YouTube videos. They’ll be gaining useful skills for the future!

Kinsa

The #1 thing that can stop a family in its tracks is sickness. The best way to stay on top of what’s going around in your child’s school, and in your home, is with the Kinsa Smart Thermometer and app. Join your school’s group to see illnesses going around and track the health history of everyone in your family.
